QVN has snowmaking here is what our volunteer-based club does:

  • Over a 48 hour snowmaking period

    • 36 hours of snowmaking run time

    • Using about 350,000 gallons of water

    • Over 200 hours of volunteer time in those two days (Share among about 10 volunteers)

  • Costs

    • $25,000+ in infrastructure (new pipes, hydrants and trail development) this year

    • $30,000+ on grooming equipment (SnowCat)

    • Existing infrastructure - $50,000+ in snow guns, hoses, pump, air compressor, shipping container, ...

    • Hundreds of volunteer hours to install and build

    • Annual $5,000 budget for operations (diesel, rentals, power,..)

The best way to support snowmaking and our club is to buy a membership!

JACKRABBITS

QVN and Cross Country Saskatchewan rules don't allow Jackrabbit lessons to be offered below -20 with wind chill. The Current Weather conditions in Lumsden can be found below on this page.  Click on 'Lumsden, SK' below an look for the 'feels like' temperature.  If the temperature is below -20 at 2pm on Sunday then the Jackrabbit lesson is cancelled for that day.
